Mrs. Wieland’s Famous Gooey Cookies

ingredients:

Graham crackers – 9 or 10

Chocolate chips – 1 cup

Pretzel pieces – 1 cup

Marshmallows – 2 cups

Butter – 1/2 cup

Brown sugar – 1/2 cup packed

Vanilla – 1 tsp

Cooking spray – as needed

Note:  I typically don’t bother to measure out the chips, pretzels or marshmallows – I just sprinkle them on the graham crackers until is looks good; therefore, all measurements listed above are approximate.

Preheat oven to 350° F.  Spray a 9″ x 13″ pan with cooking spray.  Spread graham crackers in bottom of pan (overlapping is okay).  Sprinkle chocolate chips, pretzel pieces (or anything salty) and marshmallows over the graham crackers.  In a saucepan, make the caramel by melting the butter and brown sugar while stirring constantly (have some patience, it will eventually merge together).  Remove from heat and add the vanilla – stir until mixed.  Drizzle the caramel over the graham crackers, chips, pretzels and marshmallows.  Bake at 350°F for approximately 10 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden brown.  Cool, cut and enjoy.
